Veeam Synthetic Full Backup
Veeam Synthetic Full Backup
If I am not wrong, Synthetic Full Backup uses the Last full backup and Incremental backups after the full to create a New Full Backup.
I want an Expert to confirm that,The Last Full backup + the Incrementals, used by Veeam to Create the Synthetic Full are all from the Backup Storage and not from the Production. We have zero tolerance for disturbing the VMs during production time.
if that's correct , I need to run the Synthetic Full now (production time).
Any confirmation ?
Thanks

so the incremental will trigger it from Production ?
Yes, they are used from your Repo, e.g. they are rolled up....into the Last Backup, not from Production.

it will do an incremental backup (from production)I believe you are correct.. since I see it creating a snapshot in Vspher Client console for the VM that's being backed up

Thank you Guys
Synthetic will produce full backup from storage, but if you have not done any incremental backup today, then it will run incremental first, and then create synthetic from backup, using full + incremental from it.
If I am not wrong, you want to edit backup job, and configure synthetic in it, and then run it? That should trigger incremental first and then synthetic backup.

Ivan.
