asked on
do i need anti virus software with windows 10?
Hi,
i recently got a new laptop with windows 10 installed. I do not have a seperate anti virus application and I am wondering do i need one as I have seen a lot of articles suggesting that Windows 10 Defender is sufficient.
Any guidance greatly appreciated,
thanks

Hi everyone, thanks for all your comments,
i'm leaning towards using defender and malwarebytes , the paid version, there seems to be a lot of positive comments regarding malwarebytes out there. I'm also considering putting important documentation offline and backing up weekly.
can defender and malwarebytes run concurrently without significantly affecting performance?

Hi garycase,
i note that John Hurst made the comment
i note that John Hurst made the comment
So Malwarebytes should be use as needed and not left running if using Defender running full time.

Thank you all for your inputs, clearly not a straightforward question, will probably stick with the defender + common sense for the timebeing and review if i experience any issues, once again thanks
You are very welcome. Thank you and good luck. Common sense means I do not get viruses and I am happy with that.
Pick one A/V to have running full time. Defender works. I prefer Symantec as equal or better
