host mails in different server with same domain

Dear All,

Can any one let me know the how to host few mail ids in one server and remaining in another server with same domain. I need solution for postfix.

One option is to have the primary server have those users .forward file point to username@theotherserver.yourdomain.com possibly maintaining a local copy as well.


You are providing little detail on the environment setup?

presumably the reason is you have a main location and another location that has a subset of the users.

If you use the two location such that the branch is the backup MX, then having the two replicate/synchronize....

does your existing setup use/rely on LDAP or similar backend where you can alter the destination for a user to accommodate your needs.
I.e. Usera moves to branch all email will flow to that branch, Usera comes back, any new email is delivered to the main server, do you expect the email from the branch to flow back?

Hi Arnod,

Thanks for the replay, I want to maintain two mail servers with same domain. few accounts will be hosted in one server and remaining in another server.
Both the servers are build in PostFix, Can you please let me know the best way to configure as per my requirement.
