Blocking Read Receipt and Delivery Receipt request

Is there a way to configure either Outlook 2016 Desktop or Office 365 Mail from providing the senders requested read receipts or Delivery Receipts?

I am on Office 365 platform. Could I control this for the entire organization via Exchange setup?

Also, is there a know way to stop the notification when it comes to a sneaky way such as that used by Constant Contact and others where they are able to figure out if the email has been opened?

You can control the client side options via GPO, but of course that would only apply to Outlook on domain joined machines. If you want to block them server-side, you can use a Transport rule (either by blocking the message type altogether or stripping the Disposition-Notification-To header). You can also block them on individual mailbox basis via

Set-Mailbox user@domain.com -MessageTrackingReadStatusEnabled $False

Thanks for the input. Looks like the best alternative will be to insert "Set-Mailbox user@domain.com -MessageTrackingReadStatusEnabled $False" to the transport rule.

Question: This command is a shell type command, is that correct? If so, would you mind pointing me to Office 365 Exchange online admin area to input the command.

Truly appreciate your input.

You need to Connect PowerShell to Exchange Online in order to run it: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj984289(v=exchg.160).aspx
