Why do people dis php?
I realize this isn't a coding question but it has been bothering me. Due to personal circumstances, I do not have the time nor money to study at a university and get a degree. However, I thought it might be beneficial to me to try learn a bit about computer science. Harvard University actually have a free course which is an introduction to computer science.
I was reading up about it and there where a whole lot of people who were saying they wouldn't take the course or do the full computer science degree because they were teaching php.
I see now though recently they have changed to Python, and people on the forums were like, don't worry, they changed from php to python so you can take the course now.
What is the issue with php that people would react like that? (I personally think php is awesome!)

It kind of reminds me of playing the guitar. I remember at school how everyone was a "guitarist" because they have an acoustic guitar and know 3 power chords.
Yes, I agree with you on Python because all over the place I am seeing that computer science introductory courses are using Python and as you say, all the AI courses I browsed out of interest mentioned Python. It definitely seems the way the future is headed.
But I think I will try get better at PHP first as I don't want to be the kind of person who doesn't finish something they start. Maybe "finish" is the wrong word because I don't think you ever finish learning to code. There is ALWAYS something need to learn it would seem.
Speaking of frameworks, I am watching some videos on Laracasts to try understand how frameworks work so I can get to a stage where I use them. Really great videos in my opinion!
