Securing Access to Specific Folders

What is the best way to password-protect specific folders on a Windows 10 computer or external drive without protecting the entire drive?  A paid program is fine, if that's the best option.

Thanks,

Phil

Thank you.
Phil, I'd like to know why you wouldn't go for full disk encryption. It is much more practical.
About EFS: the linked how to is ok. Most important is always to go through the restore process once to make sure you have understood it.
Maybe things have changed, but full disk encryption isn't necessary for the way I work (from my home) - and the encryption/restore process is more trouble than it's worth, though I have a fully encrypted disk for when I travel, just in case the drive is lost or stolen.  There are a few extremely confidential and sensitive files that I wanted to encrypt even when at home.
The encryption process is simple and on a modern drive, it will run at 5 GBs per minute if not faster and only used space will be encrypted. Restoring is easy, too, and full disk considered more secure. Also, you can forget your windows password without having to restore data - as you would with EFS (unless you export the certificate and guard it well and remember the pw for the certificate).
Thank you
