Error after Restoring VM machine

Hi, I created a new VM machine following the steps from here, HOW TO: Backup (Export) and Restore (Import) virtual machines to VMware vSphere Hypervisor 5.1 for FREE, but when I try to open the VM client, I get the error attached. Thanks

On the original Virtual Machine which has been Exported and now Imported.

What is SCSI device 0,2, a virtual machine or CDROM....

It may be worth trying the Export again.

Also check to see if you are missing a file?

How long did it take to Import the VM ?

ASKER

It's a Tape Drive

Firstly tape drives are not supported by ESXi, being connected to a host. (also USB devices such as external disks are not supported either, so it's very lucky you have got it to work!)

If you want to Export it, you will need to remove the USB device and Tape Drive, and then export it.

Note: As per the vSphere 5.x Release Notes, VMware does not support Tape Drives connected directly to ESXi 5.x.

see here

Configuring vendor-supported tape drives and media changers on VMware ESX/ESXi 4.x/5.x (1016407)
I removed all the USB drives, I forgot about this tape drive. I will just have to export it again (takes 22 hours) and then import it
Thanks
