NIC not detected

Hello I've got a couple of HP Pro Book 450 G2 laptops, both seem to be suffering the same symptoms.  Both systems are identical we ordered a number of them for a project, anyways for what ever reason the Realtek Network Interface card is not listed in device manager and it does not show up in network connections.  I've attempted to uninstall the driver then reinstall but it never detects that the card as being present.  It is listed as enabled in the BIOS, the lights flash on the it when it's plugged in.  I'm at a lose on this.

Was there any windows update that happened recently. If so, try going to a restore point before the update.

This could eliminate windows update as a cause.

you can also install the drivers separately from HP website.

Download the drivers for network controller  http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=6943827&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4059 on a different system and try installing it manually and see if it works.

Does it show up elsewhere in Device Manager?  If the NIC is present, working, and enabled then it should show up as something.  It may be under "other devices"

CompProbSolv is correct.  If the device is present and working, it should show up as either a Network Adapter or Unknown Device in Device manager.

If it's not showing up as either of these and the device is enabled in the BIOS, try one of the bootable linux DVDs that can be downloaded from the internet.  If that also fails to show up the device, then it's faulty and should be replaced.
Before condemning the integrated NIC, try disabling it in the BIOS, boot into Windows, shut down, disconnect AC power, remove the battery, and press the power button a few times to discharge any capacitors holding a charge. Refit the battery and boot into the BIOS. Enable the NIC again, save the changes, and boot into Windows. You never know!

Failing that, try a BIOS upgrade if one is available; if it isn't, try reflashing the current one. If none of this works then return the machine for repair if it's still in warranty or use an external USB NIC if it isn't.

I take it that using the wireless adapter isn't an option?

It doesn't even acknowledge it as being present not under anything in device its just not listed, no spot for it either.  Using a wireless adapter is not an option correct this needs to stay connect to LAN. I'll try the other suggestions.
This is not likely the case, but I'll mention it anyway.  I've run into in on Dell laptops in the past.

There was a "feature" where if you booted up the laptop from the battery and there was no cable attached to the NIC, then the NIC would be automatically disabled.  This would come up occasionally as it was typical for a client to unpack his laptop, power it up, then connect the LAN cable and then the AC adapter.  If he wasn't quick enough with either of the last two then the NIC would be disabled.

I haven't seen this for a while but worth a test.  Make sure that power and the LAN cable are both connected when you power up the laptop.
Okay sorry for the delays in this question but issue was a power saving issue, when machine went to Hibernation mode it never fully powered back up the NIC.
