Hello All,,,
Splitting DB created successfully a -be but how do I get the -fe file?
I took a copy of my base DB file into a new folder to test the splitting issue.
I started the button for split DB. It asked for location and I made it the same location folder.
I ended up with one -be created correctly with all tables moved in it.
The original DB file ended with forms, Qs, Macro, and Reps only. For the first look, I thought this should be the -fe.
Both files have the .accdb extension.
What shall I do next in order to get a client copy that I link to the -be that I will move onto a backend server.
Please advice.
Thanks

the be file with all tables should be on the server and the fe should be made copies from, each user should have his own copy.

Dear LVL,,,
I know but am just testing before I move the _be to a sort of server on the LAN.
The issue is that I did not get a _fe file. Instead I got my original file emptied from the tables into the _be.
I was expecting to find _fe as a client clean screen to install it on the end user clients.
I must be missing something.
I there any step of compilation that I have to do.
As said up here, am new to Access and some help on this.
Thanks for patience.

From your example:
Assume original file: db.accdb
Database >More Data>Access Database: Split Database
===> db_be.accdb in selected folder. This the back end part. It contains the tables. It can be renamed to any name,
original db.accdb modified to have linked tables and other objects. This is the front end (fe) database.
If you select a server location, the linked tables reference the back end at the server. If you change the back end name, you need to update the linked tables in the front end.
This front end is distributed to users, and all will access the back end.
Any user can modify his own copy, by adding local tables, and other objects. Any table added to a user's front end copy is only visible to the meant user.
Adding a table to the back end will be invisible to users using the current front end The front end has to be re downloaded to the user's pc .
For professional users, they may use their modified copy and link to any new added files.
If you click create in the back end, all objects are available to create except forms and reports, and their buttons will be disabled.
Good luck!

If you right click in the navigation pane, in the front end, and select linked tables manager, you will see each table and the path to its location.

Thanks LVL,,,
I understand but my point now is :
How do I get a clean screen to be used by the end user clients without the Nav. P, QAT, or Ribbon.
Than you.
