disk goes offline when start the resotre
hi all ,
i have currently strange issue . we have veeam backup connected to storage iscsi buffalo storage . we have one LUN mapped to esxi 6.0 host and presented to windows 2008 R2 server for backup .
now i am trying to do restore for one vm and suddenly the disk where the vm goes offline and shows that " This disk is offline because of policy set by administrator "
i have checked online regarding this issue and they said i have to set the SAN policy to Online . my concern is when set this option to online is it going to initialize the disk and format ?
if i right click the disk on Computer Management and set it to Online it will come online no problem but when do restore through veeam this issue raise .
any idea and appreciate your support

Online/Offline is just that.
To format the disk, you would need to select Format.
The issue is possibly occurring because if this is a restore, the OS serial number of the disk, is different to to the actual disk itself, which commonly happenes on restores. That is the serial number stored in the registry.
Click and ONLINE, will not cause any data loss.

thanks .
what i mean by restore is that this VM has some issue and i need to restore it to previous date .
so doing the online for the SAN will solve the issue and no initialization and format is going to happen ?
