Samsung S5 - Bricked??

OK, this is what happened.  I was not trying to do anything bad, but I wanted to check my work email.
So I set it up on my Samsung S5.  It was an exchange server, and invaded my device with a bunch of security settings.  One was 'Encrypt this device'
Now I had to enter a very long complex password every time I wanted to use my phone.  I was like 'screw this' and tried to uninstall or turn it off, but could not.  Google said I had to factory reset it.  F.  OK, so I back it up and reset the device.  Turns out, that it formatted my local drive mounts, but NOT active memory.  So my device is wiped, but still encrypted.  So I boot the device, enter password, and I get a black screen.  I can boot to a android boot screen (fastboot???) but it does not allow any options other then format again, which I have tried several times.

So, I don't care what I have to do, I just want it to work again, factory is fine.  I am not a programmer/developer and it has been YEARS since I have hacked anything.

Best I got is following this
http://forums.androidcentral.com/motorola-droid-maxx/354049-factory-reset-after-encrypting.html

I have tried to download and install the SDK for android, and found some google docs on using ADB to connect and do a factory reset including active memory, but I can't get it to work.  I think I am getting stopped at  "adb devices" does not show me anything, and I am not convinced the "usb driver" is correct.

Please help ;(

You need to flash fastboot to reset phone to factory default.
Probably start with samsung support.

You will have to reflash the phone you will need odin3 and the your carrier version of the software that is on your phone which you can download from samsung itself its and easy process and takes about 30 minutes for a noob. google how to reflash your phone and you will find step by step how to do it.

Comment from gheist is on the right track but it is a tough task even for the experts.

You can have a look on the above link for how to do fastboot to fix your problem. ODIN3 cannot help as your storage is encrypted.

There is risk of course, but as your SAMSUNG S5 is bricked already, you have to take any risk to recover it.

How to enter fastboot mode for SAMSUNG S5?
Press Power + Volume down + Home buttons simultaneously and you will be asked whether to proceed with fastboot.

Press Volume up button to proceed or press Volume down button to cancel.

I cannot help to test how fastboot work from my SAMSUNG S5 as mine is not bricked.
