USB 3.0 or iSCSI for Server backups?

I'm adding a Synology NAS in RAID 1 configuration for Server 2016 Hyper V Host that will run Server 2016 Standard. As far as backing up, I'm wondering if I should go with iSCSI connection or USB3.0

I've used iSCSI at other clients but have issues with it randomly disconnecting during the day (Server 2008 / 2012 scenarios), and sometimes not connecting upon reboot even though it is set to do so. Using Macrium Reflect v6 and Altaro for backup software.

My question is a matter of speed and simplicity. While the USB 3.0 connection would be simpler (Dell T630 with built in USB 3.0) would it be a lot slower than iSCSI?

Thanks Philip.

Yes, I was trying to decide whether to attach the NAS via USB or iSCSI. I will be using Macrium Reflect v6 to back up the physical box (Hyper V Server) and Altaro v7 to backup the VMs.

I've had issues with iSCSI in the past and it does seem to be problematic versus just using USB3. Out of curiosity, any difference in speed using the native USB built into the motherboard versus and add-in USB3 PCIe card? Same speed?

Thanks Philip and noxcho! I'm going to go USB 3 as suggested. The iSCSI has given me fits several times at clients (disconnecting, etc.). USB 3 seems much simpler!
