how can I prevent paper jams within an automatic document feeder that supports duplex document scanning?

Hello and Good Afternoon Everyone,

I will be purchasing an HP scanner with an automatic document feeder that supports duplex scanning.  The one chosen
is at this link https://www.amazon.com/HP-ScanJet-Flatbed-Scanner-L2747A/dp/B0150UKOP0  When it arrives, I am wondering what I could do to prevent possible paper jams within the automatic document with respect to the chosen one within the link.  The papers to be scanned will have print on both sides of each sheet.  At the most, there will be 18 sheets at a time sent through the automatic document feeder of the HP scanner.  The average will be more like 6- 8 pages.  Besides the minor holes where staples were once there, each sheet is straight and free of wrinkles or bends.

Any feedback given in response to this question will be greatly appreciated.

           Thank you

            George

Hello and Good Afternoon Everyone,

Thank you for your tips and suggestions for avoiding potential paper jams with my new upcoming scanner with ADF.  While I still have not made a final decision on one yet, I am confident the preventative maintenance tips discussed within this thread will help avoid many headaches relating the ADF down the road.

On a side note, the HP scanner with ADF mentioned within a previously closed post did have some comments about paper jamming.  However, the reviews on it were mixed.  I am currently checking out reviews on a few other scanners with ADF and duplex scanning.

Thanks for the update and I was pleased to help
You're welcome, George. I wish you the best in selecting a scanner. Very curious to hear which one you pick and how it performs for you. Regards, Joe
