Change email retention to 45 days for all mailboxes in Office 365

I have office 365 exchange
the default email retention for deleted emails is 14 days, I want to change this to 45 days for all current mailboxes and all future.
How do I do this?

That's the Single Item Recovery window, i.e. the retention period for messages removed from the Deleted Items container. The maximum you can set it to is 30 days as detailed here: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee633460(v=exchg.160).aspx

You can use the examples in the article to configure it for all mailboxes. If you need more that that, look into the in-place hold functionality.

There is no retention window for messages moved to the Deleted Items container in Office 365, they will stay there indefinitely, unless the user removes them.
