Upgrading System Center Configuration Manager

This is a strict Microsoft question.

We have Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012 SP2 working is doing great we can deploy updates to all Windows computers and deploy other packages to more than 200 laptops.
Now, we just got System Center Configuration Manager 2016, my question is; does anyone know if an upgrade is possible without messing everything up?

Thanks for your time.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Yes, it is possible. I will be honest and say I don't know the finer details without Googling but I've read enough to know you can. You might have to upgrade something newer thing SP2 (like R2 or 1606 first) then upgrade.

Hello, Mike T

Thanks for your comment, I have been reading about it also I'm looking for some assurance that can be done. I have read 3 good papers on the topic, but wanted to know if anyone has done it here before me proceeding with the information I have at hand.
Any links to info that you know of?

Hi - sorry, been busy. The best guide is the systemcenterdudes

https://www.systemcenterdudes.com/step-by-step-sccm-1606-upgrade-guide

I followed it and it worked perfectly, with the added complication of having no internet, which is always fun. Not.
