ESXi 4.1.0 host unreachable every morning

I have 2 PowerEdge R610's running VMware ESXi 4.1.0 VMKernel 260247.  Each hosts 2 Server2008R2 VMs stored on a Dell SAN MD3000i.

During an extended power outage exhausting the UPS both servers shutdown unexpectedly.  Both systems powered back on.

Server 1's guest VMs were listed as unavailable in vSphere.  Server 1 did ping on the network.  iDRAC virtual console showed the ESXi screen.  I was able to press F12 and interact.  Issuing a reboot resulted in the screen showing "rebooting" but not change beyond that for 30 minutes.  A "reset system(warm boot)" was issued which brought the server back online.

We are now seeing this behavior recurring every morning.  Server appears to be up but no communication with VM's, unable to properly reboot the server.

Logs on the server (hostd.log, messages, vpxa.log) all show less than an hour of entries and are Greek to me.  vSphere, Administration, System Logs similarly frustrate.

I am unfamiliar with ESXi/vSphere.  I have been unable to Google my way to any useful logs or diagnostics which might shed some light on the underlying cause for the crashes.

I also do not know how one would run hardware diagnostics with an ESXi system.

Any assistance would be appreciated.
