Are you trying to connect by the server's name or the IP address? Also, are you using a VPN?
ASKER
I am using this over a VPN and connecting by IP address
I'm betting it's a VPN issue, and something related to security since your Home edition PC won't be a member of a domain.
Can you connect to any other computers or servers or is it just that one that's causing problems?

Any updates on this? Are any other PC's running Win7/10 Home able to connect?
What is the answer to this?
Kindly let me know if you are running this connection on LAN or on VPN?
I can probably suggest you first and foremost run Windows Update on your Windows 10 machine. This will download all latest patches. Probably one of the patches will repair this problem for you.
If you continue receiving this error, then you can try the below:
Open RDP
Enter the IP address of the remote computer
Click Show Options
Click Experience
Uncheck Reconnect if the connection is dropped
Click Connect
This is just a basic recommendation until you provide additional information.
