Regarding Office 365 Autodiscover

We configured a new domain on Office 365 and added the required records on the public DNS, but there was a previous records available there which related to the hosting, we removed mail.domain record and web mail but the issue that whenever i need to configure a user profile on the outlook using auto discover it a pop up appears mentioning server name is mail.domain.com and the username and password, however i test autodiscoer connectivity on Microsoft connectivity analyzer and fount no issues but the it's mentioning SMTP address is mail.domain.com and the imap server is also mail.domain.com so is that normal?

If your hoster is using Cpanel or similar, you need to disable the autodiscover functionality there. They configure the A record to point to their own mail, thus you get the issue.

Or you can "instruct" Outlook to bypass the lookup by deploying the reg keys detailed in this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2212902. All you need for O365 is the CNAME (HTTP redirect) method, you can block all others.

Thanks Vasil for reply, Yes correct they are using cpanel and an a record pointing to a specific public IP, so as of now if i got your point correctly i will delete that a record? and if not how they will remove the autodiscover functionality which makes that conflict? and if you don't mind to explain more that point

All you need for O365 is the CNAME (HTTP redirect) method, you can block all others.
