Office365 DirSync setup questions

I'm getting ready to setup DirSync with Office365 for the first time.  I have a few quick questions I'm hoping someone with experience can help me with.  We have a pretty simple environment with 2 Windows Server 2008R2 domain controllers at one location.  About 30 users in the AD environment

Does it require port forwarding on the router?
Does it work OK when installed on a domain controller or should I put on a separate server?
The local domain is currently domainname.local.  The domain in Office365 is a .org domain.  Any issues there?

Thanks very much for the assistance.

Quick follow up to your comment Todd.  As you mentioned, most of the users, but not all, were assigned the domain.onmicrosoft.com when everything synced with Office365.  About 10% of the users were assigned the correct domain name.  FYI, the domain name was already added to Office365 before i did the sync.  My question:  is it OK to just change the domain for those users that were assigned the domain.onmicrosoft.com to domain.com?  I wouldn't think that would cause any problems, but just thought I'd ask.

Thanks very much.
