Any idea why I am seeing a few (redacted).crash reports on a vanilla/newly installed OSX system running 10.11.6?

Hi there. I have just set up a mid 2015 MBP which is in a vanilla/newly installed state. I always run Etrecheck just to see if there are any issues before sending the mac out on jobs. This is the first time I have seen any crashes in the Diagnostics Information at the bottom of the report. Can anyone shed any light on what I can do to stop the crashes? At this stage I am just been proactive. There are no obvious issues with the mac so far but the last thing I want is for the crashes to evolve into a larger issue while out on a job.

I also have a few macs showing large kernel_task's around the 2.0 gig mark (MacPro's). Should I pot those reports also?

Any help, greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mark

Hi Mark,

It looks like you might have an Adobe extension problem CEPHtmlEngine, according to your logs.

There is a new extension for it. Take a look at this: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1712496

I hope this helps.
Hi Justin, thanx for the help and identifying the Adobe update that is required. I am going to look into this today and hopefully it will fix the crashes.

Do you think that was it as far as potential issues went? I was worried about what the AmbientDisplayAgent was that was also causing crashes. Thanks again, Mark
Hi Mark,

It appears to be a known issue with some MacBook Pros. That said, it's an easy fix. Go to System Preferences/Displays/ Uncheck the "Automatically Adjust Brightness".

As far as potential issues, that it appears to be it. ;)

Let me know how things go for you. Take care.
Hi Justin, Thanks for the additional help with the AmbientDisplayAgent. Thats a nice simple fix!

Sorry...I had a busy week last week and this is the first chance I have had to look into the Adobe extension problem. Having clicked on that link today though it says to only update if you are running CC 2014. i.e. Description ***For Photoshop CC 2014 ONLY!***

As you can see in the Etrecheck report above, we are running CC 2017. Do you still advise updating this extension or do you think it may be another issue?

Thanks again for all your help. Best wishes, Mark
