open ost file into new machine?
I purchased a new computer; I want to transfer ost file to new computer. But exchange server account has not worked. Is there a free way of doing this?

If it is an OST file, the email should reside on an exchange server. All you should have to do is to log him back in on the new PC and configure Outlook to connect back to his Exchange Server. All email will come back down from the server.
The only thing to look for on the old PC is Archive folders. They should show up as PST files though not OST (usually Archive.PST)

As above suggested, convert OST files to PST and then import them to new computer. Here is an article which explores the detailed processed for manual OST to PST conversion. Additionally, you can try third party tools for risk free conversion like: OST2, Kernel and Lepide for OST to PST.

You may rename the ost to pst then copy to new computer.
On new computer, rename back to ost. After point the outlook to new ost location
