CORTANA!! I don't want or need cortana.

I am  using Windows 10 Pro. I have ABSOLUTELY ZERO interest or need in this "invaluable feature". I have  heard that it is impossible to remove it completely. How do I go about removing or disabling as much of this feature as possible without the microsoft police knocking at my 10 foot thick concrete door asking  questions? Please give step by step instructions and assume  that I know next to nothing about the procedure.

Correct, he asked about either disabling it or removing it. I just gave him the option to disable it.

I stay away from the registry at all costs. I will give these suggestions a try. I find it difficult to believe that mikro soft chooses too eliminate the option of removing something that a person has zero use for and is a pain in the butt. I a sure it involves money for ms in some way shape or form. Such is life. Thanks guys!
Thanks experts
You are most welcome. It is built in that is why but you can use settings to disable.
I have learned that I prefer to show only the Cortana icon.  From there I use it to type things I want to find - programs almost always.  Like "cmd" for instance.  It's a very limited use of it but I find just that much to be useful.
