Need printer help HP 1310 PSC series

Where is the queue?

There is a document in the queue that is either failing to delete or taking an abnormal time to delete.
Before that the printer failed to print and the documents in the queue built up. All were cancelled and deleted in a second. No delays.

The printer successfully prints a test page and the copier works and prints.
The printer owner wants me to buy them a new printer as they think I broke theirs.

When the printer is powered on we are missing a light beside the optional camera port. See the image.
Everything else looks fine, the printer drivers are up to date as of today, the printer is the default, the test pages print, the copier works.
The owner suggest that my printing a page ruined the rollers in some way. It initially showed as a paper jam but when removed the jam light went off.

Now nothing prints directly from the computer such as a Word document.

hdhondt;

All your questions are answered below.

I have an 895Cse. If my print job only uses the top third of the page, I can fold it and print on the 2nd 3rd of the page. No issues. I've done it dozens of times.
So, I was at their house and wanted to print something and they said sure. I tried to print a folded page and it jammed. He tells me while the event is happening that it will try to pick up two pieces of paper if you attempt a folded sheet. Well, fine time to tell me. It also means he has tried the same thing or he would not know it jams.

After the jam, I opened the back and pulled the page out with two very weak fingers. There was really no jam where you have to locate multiple pieces of ripped paper.
So we turned the printer off and when it is turned off and on it prints a test page. No problems. It printed fine indicating no jam.

I do not recall whether any lights are blinking. After the jam the yellow ! did show up. The yellow light on the printer blinked. I took action to solve the jam issue.
We unplugged the printer from the USB port and also the power to the printer. Waited a few minutes and turned it on. When it was turned on the lights near the camera port did blink and go off. He says that light is always on.

I went to printers and devices and removed the printer with the yellow !. Then added the device back and we had to sit through several minutes as it got the current drivers. Then the new printer showed the green check mark that it was the default.

I tried to print a Word document and an e-mail. And a page from a website. Three different types of print jobs. They are staying in the queue and have to be deleted (cancelled). One did not delete quickly so he said he would turn it on tomorrow and maybe it prints. I doubt it does.

I think he is correct about the light near the camera port but I am not sure. I've never looked there and I've used their printer dozens of times.

There is only one printer in the control panel > devices. This printer does everything but print.

When I try to open the utilities of his printer it is all different than mine. So as far as the "services" for the print spooler, I'm not sure where "services" is on his printer.

gilnov:
Are you referring to a services tab in multiple models or are you referring to the services tab in his specific printer model 1310 PSC?

I'm trying to copy paste the comment by gilnvov and a display ad is popping open and ruining the paste. I close the ad and try to copy by highlighting and the ad opens again.
When it was turned on the lights near the camera port did blink and go off. He says that light is always on.
Whatever the guy says, that light will only come on when a camera is plugged in. See the user's manual, pg 17 (page 25 in the PDF),

a display ad is popping open and ruining the paste.
What are you pasting, and where? If it's "C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS" then do that either at a DOS prompt, or into Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer).
Check the printer driver settings when printing. Make sure you have selected the correct paper size there. I've come across situations that when you don't select the size that is in the printer nothing will print and you don't get an error message. Does scanning work?

Well the pc owner got the printer working and I am waiting to hear how. It seems the shutdown and come back tomorrow (and hope) may have done the trick. If any people here think I am computer dumb, the printer owner is well under me. I'll post the solution when I hear it. I doubt he tried the idea by gilnov but who knows. I'll close the question when his fix is heard.
Hi Nick

While we're waiting for your answer, here's another comment about handling printers. You said:

After the jam, I opened the back and pulled the page out with two very weak fingers
When you need to pull paper out of a printer, it is highly recommended to always pull it forward. Pulling it backwards risks damaging some sensor in the paper path. Of course, sometimes you have no other option ;-)

He does not know what he did to fix it. He accessed HP Solutions Center and followed prompts and got it going. His scanner is working now too. I asked him what he did and he said he does not know.

rindi the scanner did not work but does work now. Paper size not a factor.
Thanks for the points, Nick. Glad to see it's working again.
