SSD mSata 250GB
I have a SSD 120GB 1.8“ micro SATA Kingston.
https://www.kingston.com/us/ssd/business/skc380s3
I wanted a 250GB one.
I knew mine is micro SATA, so mSata and I ordered a Samsung 840 EVO mSata 250GB.
I had a big surprise.
It does not seem to match.
Have a look at the pictures below.
I decided to send it back to the online shop.
My confusion came from mSata word, connector and form factor.
What do you recommend me?

The problem is as you already know that different vendors use different branding. Once they will come to the same standard but at the moment naming is misleading. Micro and Mini SATA interfaces are not compatible. As noted by Joe, get yourself the same interface and model but higher capacity as yours.
ASKER
Yes, my confusion was that "m" from mSata. I thought mini SATA, I did not realize mine is micro.
Anyway, 1.8" micro SATA, what I need, is not very common.
I was thinking from beginning to buy the same brand higher capacity as you already pointed.
But is so expensive compared with mSata or 2.5" from factor, almost double price. That is crazy.
I asked your opinion, because I had in mind already 2 alternatives.
1) And adapter mSata to 1.8" micro Sata:
http://www.addonics.com/products/adms18sa.php
https://www.amazon.com/Aleratec-mSATA-Drive-Converter-Frame/dp/B00D4CVLNG
2) A used SSD, cheaper:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/1-8-256GB-SATA-III-6Gb-s-SSD-Replace-MK1629GSL-MK1633GSG-MK2529GSG-MK2533GSG1-8-/122344508762?hash=item1c7c4d0d5a:g:18kAAOSwubRXGUIv
And by the way, the .com prices, usually amazon.com or US prices in generally does not help me. I am in Europe.
What is your opinion about the 2 alternatives above?

In the 1st link that I provided:
https://www.kingston.com/us/ssd/business/skc380s3
There is Buy button and if I choose 240GB and I click Buy, then a small window is opened with different recommended stores in my country, in Germany, including amazon.de
https://www.amazon.de/dp/B00KUSN8Q0?tag=httpwwwkingst-21
But the price is over 200€, which I find very expensive, double than mSata and lots higher than 2.5”.
So, I am OK to buy a new SSD 1.8” micro SATA with the size 240-256GB as long as is in normal price range of 100€, max. 125€ and the speed is the same as mine now, but not ridiculous >200€
That’s why I was thinking at alternatives.

Help me to find Aleratec in Europe, better Germany, online.
I am ready to give it a try, but I must move fast.
I found some alternatives, but I do not know if I should trust them:
https://www.m-ware.de/adapter-und-konverter/adapter-msata/m-ware-mini-pcie-msata-ssd-zu-micro-sata-ssd-hdd-adapter-id13114/a-13114/
https://www.m-ware.de/adapter-und-konverter/sata-adapter/m-ware-micro-sata-ssd-hdd-zu-sata-mainboard-adapter-id13111/a-13111/
I am also afraid the adapter may not fit physically in laptop, there is not too much space and are some plastic guides.
I oscillate now between an adapter and existing mSata and the old used 240GB KIngstom from Austria, which I know will fit and work, but don't know for how long time. I paid for mSata 110€ with shipping. I can get 100€ back and pay the 2nd hand SSD from ebay.

As far as I know Toshiba bought OCZ and sells their drives under Toshiba name.
Have you tried to find similar drive by CAD, Saturn or MediaMarkt in Germany?

After this discussion, you made me think at future.
It is faster and without headache to buy a used 1.8" micro SATA, but an adapter would allow me also future higher capacities mSata cheaper.

Accordng to the picture it is EU certified so should be ok. Viel Spass damit.

Dankeschön.
EU certified does not necessary mean was produced in EU. It could mean also that is imported by someone (an EU company) from Asia and they issued their own CE Declaration of Conformity based only some certificates without any further tests. That company takes the responsibility in case of technical troubles on mass scale.

Now I have some worries.
1) Transferring the data and OS from existing SSD Kingston to the new mSata Samsung.
I need an adapter, a USB one.
I ordered next one: http://www.ebay.de/itm/mSATA-50mm-zu-USB-3-0-Adapter-DeLock-Konverter-USB-A-msata-USB3-0-/322357093804?hash=item4b0dfae5ac:g:e54AAOSwA3dYSo8F
Do you have any idea?
2) What do you recommend?
- To clone old SSD to the new SSD, which is faster for me
- Or make new clean install, which will take days for me with all the programs that I use

If your 1TB external drive is full then it is time to get a new one. It is much better to buy additional USB drive than purchasing an adapter which should also suit your mSATA interface.

I will go with adapter + mSata for the moment.
If does not work as expected - hope the transfer rate, the speed of SSD remains using the adapter
Never heard of Casper, but many other recommended I have used in the past.
I hate Acronis. It destroyed one of my special Linux drive. It is not true clone as they name it.
Better CloneZilla and other tested stuff that work with true clone bit by bit.

I will keep this question open, if you don't mind, just in case, for some days, until I receive the adapter and try out the cloning.

Today afternoon my adapter mSata to USB arrived.
I used
