Computer Boot Up Time can be 30 minutes, please help with any recommendations?
Hello EE,
We have a number of computers that are in the field for technicians and they are reporting 2-30 minute boot times. For obvious reasons we would like to shave this down.
One thought is that GPOs are attempting to apply despite them not being on the VPN at boot up. For example we see "The winlogon notification subscriber <GP Client> is taking long time to handle the notification event (CreateSession)" as a warning in the event log

@Emmanuel - how do I determine the size? That is disabled.
@David - Great I'll try it.
@thr - no roaming profile. It is local

The definitive answer can only be found by using the windows performance toolkit and analyzing the boot
Did you try excluding it from all GPOs and testing it?
ASKER
It does not appear to be getting any GPOs on boot up as it is not on the domain until it connects to the VPN
If it was joined to domain it has policies applied to it , even without connecting to network
ASKER
Oh I didn't realize I'll try removing and testing
Also, check that "Run logon scripts synchronously” is disabled. This is found under Computer Configuration\Policies\Adm
