Azure Active Directory Connect change from domain.local to domain.com
I'm using Azure Active Directory Connect for the first time. I am performing an Exchange to Office365 migration and want to sync with Active Directory.
I've set everything and AD is syncing with Office365 just fine. The problem I've got is that about 75% of the users in AD have their usernames set to username@domainname.local. Only about 25% have them set to username@domainname.com. When sync was performed on the username@domainname.local ones were given domainname.onmicrosoft.com addresses.
My question: is it OK to just change the account in AD from domainname.local to domainmame.com? As far as I am aware, the users are logging onto their computers using just their usernames as opposed to username@domainname.local. Trying to figure out what problems I might run into before making this change.
Thanks for your help.
