Need to convert large amount of Outlook Express folders (*.DBX Files) to current email program.

I have a client who saved all his emails of many years to folders in Outlook Express.  I was able to restore the folders and the .DBX files to his new Windows 10 workstation.  However as we all know you cannot use Outlook Express on anything above Microsoft Windows XP.  The only way I know of would be to install Windows XP with Service Pack 3 that includes Outlook Express on a workstation and convert or forward all of his hundreds of emails to his current Office 2016?

Any way of doing this easier would be great!

Many thanks in advance for your help.

The only tested way to do this is have Outlook Express AND Outlook on the same computer. So yes, you need an XP computer or XP virtual machine to do this. Make sure OE is installed properly and running first, then install Outlook XP or Outlook 2003 and let it find OE and get the email. I have done this myself (although before XP died).

Hi,

Office 2016 created .pst file format by this reason you must first convert your .dbx file to .pst then import it into Office 2016.

Use any third party tool which compatible with Windows 10 and Office 2016.

You can go through the link and find best DBX to PST converter tool.

It would be better if you do it manually. I have gone to this Easy Tech blog.  And i really find it worth for this DBX Recovery and DBX to PST conversion. Fully manual techniques..

Great program!  Most other methods could not be used because Microsoft discontinued support (1/17) and the downloading of Live mail which many had responded to use that program to convert the older *.DBX files.

The Aid4Mail program converted all content in the older Outlook Express emails including subject, original date of emails and all attachments which many other programs have problems during the conversion.  On top of that it created the *.PST files and new folders in Outlook 2016.  I will use this program in the future!

Many thanks for your help!
I have always just went to the xp machine where it was if it was available and installed outlook 2007 and it migrates it for you in the process of setting it up. this seems like the easiest way to me if you can do it that way
