Win 7 Task Notification icons don't appear
Running Windows 7 Professional SP-1 32-bit, there are nine icons which are configured (using Customize Notification Icons) to appear in the Task Notification area, when Windows starts. Most of the time, I need to log off and log back on, in order for all the icons to appear. The applications, themselves, are running at start up, because they can be found in the Windows Task Manager's "Processes" window. Is there another way to cause all icons to appear? They have all been configured to "Show icons and Notifications"?

Thanks to both Experts. Uttam Kumar: Deleting those registry entries did not change the problematic behavior. Ramin Shehni: I created a new Administrator user account. None of my customized icons appear in the notification tray on start up. However, I believe this would be expected, since the new user would not have the same configuration for icons to display in that area. If I try to customize the notification area, the applications whose icons I wish to display do not even appear among the choices.
if it was set as Administrator, and if you installed those programs for all Users, not for only this user then it must show the Icons.
Also some applications can be set via it's setting to appear/Disappear the Icon.
if you want to trace this problem, then click on start and run msconfig and run it, go to Startup tab and check if your programs are mentioned here.
if not, then go to services tab and place a checkmark in Hide all Microsoft Services check box and check if you can find any reference to your programs.

Thank you. I install applications for "only this user".
if the programs are running and they are not set to hide their icons then you have a Registry with Corrupted Keys.
Run a decent Registry program to find and fix the problems may help to solve this issue.
also you can use System Restore to Restore your computer to the state it had no problem.

Thank you. I used Registry First Aid to repair the registry, but the issue has not changed. If registry key corruption were the problem, I don't understand how logging off and logging back on would display the icons.
Check your system for Malware or Virus, with a USB/DVD bootable media Created by an Antivirus.

Thank you. The system has been scanned by Norton Internet Security and MalWareBytes, and found to be free of infection.
Did you try Troubleshooting in control panel for Appearance and Personalization ?
ASKER
Thank you. I had not tried that, until you suggested it. The only option which appears is "Aero: Display Aero effects, such as transparency."

For now, I guess this will remain an unsolved dilemma. Thanks for your efforts.
