How to redirect a website just from the DNS records

My client has a URL hosted with his registrar and I would like to redirect it to another URL by making a direct change to the DNS records. I do not want to host the URL on our server and redirect from there. I want to do it directly from the registrar's DNS.

So for example I want:

www.example-site1.com

to redirect to

www.example-site2.com

I would like this to be a permanent 301 redirect.

Which provider is the domain with?

Normally their knowledge base will provide steps for adding forwards on domains.

The provider is based in Spain and normally I use a UK provider and they have a facility in their account to do the redirect. This is not provided by the Spanish registrar.
Then the best thing to do is raise a ticket with them and ask for assistance.

Personally I would transfer the domain to a UK provider if you are based in the UK.  I know you said that you don't want to do that but it would be best to move it to a domain host that you know how to use and contact etc.

Transferring registrar is not an option at the moment but do you know a way of doing this just from the DNS?

That's correct, I can only add an IP address to an A record. I was hoping there was something that could be done via the CNAME.
