NIC set to static, but still pulls DHCP address

Just took on a new client. Basic setup is:

  Firewall = DHCP, DNS
  Server (netbios name is AARON) = Running Server 2008 Standard SP2, basic file sharing.

The server IP address is set static to 192.168.0.199. However, in the firewall I can see the server has pulled a DHCP address of 192.168.0.113, which is causing issues with network shares. I confirmed it was the NIC by crosschecking the MAC address (see attached screen shots).

Any idea how this is possible and/or how to resolve it?

Double check DHCP settings, maybe there is an reservation under server Mac address, or your MAC is duplicated in your network.

@Tom_Cieslik - Thank you for your quick response. I checked DHCP and no reservation is added. No dupe MACs on the network either.
This may just be the servers NIC requesting an address from the DHCP server when it boots.  The static address being applied moments later.  Have you checked that you can ping both addresses?

I should add:  If this is the case and you can't ping the .113 address and can ping the 199 address, then the obvious work around would be to create a reservation on the dhcp server assigning .199 as the address.
I still don't know the root cause, but this solution worked. As soon as I added the .199 reservation, the .113 went away.

Thanks!
Hi Yort,

I suspect that the root cause is as per my first comment in this thread.
This solved the issue. Thanks.
