Is it a network printer. Connect to it via URL with the ip address of your printer.

i have about 7 dell network printers - i did connect to the ip and there are a lot of options but non to disable USB printing
What's the model of your printer. Did you log into the administrator the setting? advance configuration require login in.

Dell Color Laser 3110cn - yes i am an admin
If you go to printer setting, there should be option for usb setting.
Correct me if i'm wrong i don't think this model has USB port for flash drive connection. It only has USB 2.0 for communication. You want to disable the port so no one can plug a flash drive to scan to it or print from it?

Why do you need to disable the USB? If you can tell us the reason, perhaps there are other ways of achieving what you need.
For starters, you can't do it.

Disabling USB on a printer for PCI compliance? Where did you get the information that it was a necessary step? If someone was worried about data getting onto flash drives therefore causing cardholder data to potentially get printed, the printer would by far the least of your concerns.

ita one of the options that was required for PCI we are doing now - i think you are correct jli168 - i will check all other models of printers, ideally i would like to have a management console for the printers
Could you please share the PCI requirement that spells that out?
I don't know what might be listed for PCI but for good practice all-in-one printer that has the ability to scan to USB should be disable because it's potential breach. Confidential document can be scanned to USB flash drive and carry out. We all know there is no 100% bullet proof protection. Anyone with a smart phone can just take a picture of the document and it will be leaked. You just have to proof that you did the all necessary steps to protect the data.
The Dell printer being discussed is a pure printer, not an all in one, hence why turning off USB isn't an option. The discussion would be different had we been discussing all in one units, which I know that a number of HP units would let you disable the feature in question.

I know the Dell E525W does offer those features as well. It's easy to do from the printer itself (granted it would be an inefficient way to go about it). In the menus, there is a USB settings option, and you can simply opt to disable there. In the EWS, it's under Printer Settings > Printer Settings > USB Settings.

you are correct , just spoke to my PCI security guy and i made a mistake, its needed because a bank requested it. its not a All In One printer

The ability to write data from multifunctional devices (e.g. scanners and printers) to removable media is not disabled.
