Infrastructure development vs software development
Hello
I would like to understand people's thoughts on what infrastructure development really is. Software development is pretty straightforward to understand (applications, mobile apps etc), but what is infra development and can someone throw me a few examples.
The context is - I'm interested to understand the shift in technologies as we move from on-prem/hardware based to cloud/software based. Looking forward 5 years or so, will there really be much need for infrastructure architects that put together solutions like SQL, Exchange etc or will the demand be software based as technologies such as Azure, Dockers, Microservices gain hold?
