Changing the position of page numbers in a document already paginated

I have a document  in Word 2013 (a book) which I already paginated. The page numbers appear at the bottom left and bottom right  (alternate) of the pages. I now want to simplify this and place ALL page numbers at the bottom CENTRE.  Can I do this without having to remove all existing page numbers and start from Scratch?

please note, you may have to repeat what GrahamSkan recommends if your document has one or more sections not "linked with previous"

The pages are inserted automatically. However there are page breaks, but they are linked with Previous (except for the introductory pages).
Am I to do as follows?  Go to an odd footer and delete the page number. Then re-insert the page number in the middle (bottom) of the page. Then I go to the even footer and do likewise.
