Changing the position of page numbers in a document already paginated

I have a document  in Word 2013 (a book) which I already paginated. The page numbers appear at the bottom left and bottom right  (alternate) of the pages. I now want to simplify this and place ALL page numbers at the bottom CENTRE.  Can I do this without having to remove all existing page numbers and start from Scratch?

If you have used automatic page numbering, then it shouldn't be a problem

Normally page numbering as you describe is achieved via a page number field in footers with the page layout set to 'Different odd and even'.

In this case, just delete the number in the odd footer and the even footer and use the Insert page number facility to add new numbers.

If you have done everything manually, then it would be more difficult and we would need more information. It would help if you pasted a redacted extract of your document. Don't post a picture. That is harder to analyse.

please note, you may have to repeat what GrahamSkan recommends if your document has one or more sections not "linked with previous"

The pages are inserted automatically. However there are page breaks, but they are linked with Previous (except for the introductory pages).
Am I to do as follows?  Go to an odd footer and delete the page number. Then re-insert the page number in the middle (bottom) of the page. Then I go to the even footer and do likewise.

i would start on the FIRST odd page / even page footers  (AFTER the introductory pages)

then do a search for Section breaks to make sure that subsequent sections are OK

at the bottom of the right-hand side (vertical) elevator, you see 2 double arrows and a dot

click on the dot and select Browse by section to get to the next section

check, then click the down arrow to go the the following one, and so on

Sorry not to have followed up. Hospital visiting took longer than usual today, but you are in good hands with Paul.
