Conveting Windows 2008 system disk to dynamic - two partitions - extend to different partition
I have a Windows 2008 server that has disk 0 with two partitions. Disk 0 is a basic disk. The first partition is the operating system. The second partition is a data volume. I want to delete the second partition and then use the free space to extend to disk 1 . Disk one is a basic disk but I plan to convert it to dynamic. I also want to convert disk 1 to dynamic. My goal is to extend the second partition on disk 0 to be used on the single partition on disk 1. Can this be done? I basically need to add spare to the partition on disk 1 and I see some space I can disk up on disk 0 .

Adam,
The partition I want to use had a drive letter on it.. I need it to become drive D: . I guess the span command will allow me to combine with the existing drive D: partition ?

I would recommend not using Dynamic disks because it causes more problems later when you want to restore it from backup or change the volume sizes.
Take a screen shot of your Windows Disk Management and post it here. I want to see how much space and what partitions you do have there.
If the original purpose is to extend the system drive then delete D: partition (considering it is the partition right after C drive) and extend the C: partition.
If Disk1 is empty then create new partition and assign a drive letter D: on it.
