Find control on SSRS report

I've inherited a bunch of underperforming SSRS reports.  I've rewritten the data sets for the report I'm currently working on, but when I attemp to preview the report it gives me a message that refers to textbox27.  I've used the find feature to find the control in the code view of the rdl, and tracked it backwards to a tablix3, but I cannot find a tablix labeled "tablix3", and I have clicked on every text box I can find in the report design view.

Is there a way so select a control name, in Access this would be in the properties dialog, and have VS highlight the control?

Is there a way to stack multiple controls on top of one another, and make it difficult to view a control in design view?

Is there any way delete a control (tablix) yet have it linger in the rdl code view?

Thanks for your help.
