Sum 2 rows formula - months

Experts,

I am looking for a formula to sum rows 40 & 41 (not the entire rows though...please see file) for each month in row 43 (would need to check for year as well since the dates extend many years)

Please see attached file.

thank you

perfect.  I tried doing the same but I forgot it was an array and I did not use the control shift enter.  thank you...
You're Welcome! Glad it helped.:)
Alternative without the Ctrl+Shift+Enter requirement:

=SUMIFS($B$40:$SY$40,$B$20:$SY$20,">="&B$43,$B$20:$SY$20,"<"&C$43)+SUMIFS($B$41:$SY$41,$B$20:$SY$20,">="&B$43,$B$20:$SY$20,"<"&C43)
