Win XP Blue Screen Dump Files - Interpretation required..
Hi folks,
Am trouble shooting a Windows XP system that is randomly blue screening once to twice a day. No obvious pattern to the Blue Screens as in what is being done at the time they happen. Appear totally random.
Things tried to date is Temperature monitoring of the mainboard, Stress Testing the Hardware components with Passmark BurinTest software, including many cycles of Deep RAM testing, Video 2D & 3D graphics, CPU etc. All passed with flying colours.
I was finally able to get the client to successfully grab a copy of the Dump Files which I've attached to this request.
Could anyone that knows how to interpret the contents please advise what they indicate the problem was at the time this Blue Screen occurred?
Many thanks..
Andrew

Is the system logging errors in any of the Event Logs?
ASKER
Hi Dr. Klahn,
No have checked those. Nothing noteworthy in any category in Event Viewers logs.

Try removing any new hardware that you've added recently, your dump files refers to hardware.

it also mentions aswMonFlt.sys which is an Avast file
i suggest to uninstall Avast, and check if you still have the problem
you can install a free AV to test also eg Panda free http://download.cnet.com/Panda-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10914099.html

if you are using AVAST, remove and reinstall
To tell you the truth once XP starts acting up, you might as well start over, you will fix now if you actually fix and then its something else. So save yourself backup your files and start over.
i wonder why all above repat what i said.. ? that does not help

Many thanks for all the suggestions.
With regards to suggestions for the removal of Avast, it had just been installed, replacing Kaspersky AV which had been installed during previous Blue Screen episodes so it's unlikely to be the cause to me, however will keep that suggestion in mind.
I will take a close look at Adobe Reader as that is frequently being used on this particular machine. If no joy, will endeavor to have additional dump files collected for further examination. A total reinstall has been suggested, however rejected by the owner of the computer.
Thank you all for all of your assistance.

MASQ.. Thank you for posting the clear and humanly readable interpretation of the dump file. May I ask what software you used to generate that report?
I agree with you that AR may be an innocent bystander based on one crash.
Best regards,
Andrew

I still use WinDbg (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ee416349%28v=vs.85%29.aspx#analyzing_a_minidump) but TBH it can be a PITA to install and configure initially and there are far more useful tools out there if you don't need to understand how the analysis process works.
If you don't mind sharing the content of your dump files publicly then you can get a quick and accurate online analysis here:
http://www.osronline.com/page.cfm?name=Analyze
They use the same tool but share the results looking for trends
There are also a couple of good utilities you can install for free which will get you the info
