Outlook 2010 - access public folder shortcut.
Hello.
AIM: For roaming profile clients, who all have the same startup folder allocated via folder redirection, to startup Outlook 2010 automatically and open up a Public Folder - as opposed to opening up the default Inbox view.
We run Outlook 2010 and Exchange at our workplace. We would like to be able to create a shortcut that opens up a public folder in Outlook 2010.
This is what I have found thus far, and the shortcut does work.
The problem I have is that staff use roaming profiles, additionally, they all have the same Startup folder (with specific application shortcuts in, which is applied by folder redirection)
We therefore cannot create the above shortcut and put it in the communal start up folder, so when each staff member logs in the first page that loads, within Outlook, is a Public Folder, as to get the shortcut to work you have to put in Exchange email address (as expressed above). Putting in that Exchange email address means that the shortcut (which will be applied to all clients) will only load Outlook for that person.
Question: Is there a way of creating that short without having to add a users exchange mail address ? As we need the shortcut to load for all the clients, not just the one with the email added.
Additionally, is there any other way to set the opening page of Outlook 2010 so it points to a public folder first, and not the Inbox.
EDIT: This post has the same issue;

Using %username% does not work.
Thanks

if you want to use a shortcut to open Outlook to a public folder, you can use the select switch and path to the public folder:
Outlook.exe /select "outlook:\\Public Folders\All Public Folders\folder\subfolder"
This works great in older versions of Outlook but fails in Outlook 2010 with an error message:
Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot display the selected folder or item.
In Outlook 2010, you need to include your Exchange email address in the path:
outlook.exe /select "outlook:\\Public Folders – frank@slipstick.com\All Public Folders\folder\subfolder"
