Cannot take ownership of a folder
It appears that on one of my Windows 2003 server, I cannot take ownership of the folder. I tried adjusting the parent folder but still get "access denied" on the sub folder at issue.
Any ideas?

Can you give yourself permission to the subfolder?
Have you ensure that the account you are using has Domain Admin rights? Is the account you are using the domain admin account? Have you tried verifying the permissions on the folder?
Check first who has right to see all rights to this folder.
Login as this user and change ownership, or add yourself right TAKE OWNERSHIP
Then you going to be able to change owner of this folder and after that you going to be able change rights.
Remember that after you'll change owner you need to apply changes then close all properties and if you want to change right you need to go again to folder properties/security

I cannot check as I am getting "access denied" error even when using the CACLS command...

And yes, I am logged in as domain admin
So it looks like something or someone set explicit permissions to this folder and option SEE OWNERSHIP and TAKE OWNERSHIP is unsellected.
If you not going to be able check what user or process did that then I think you have no chance to change it.

Are there any tools that would allow me to take ownership?
