Cannot boot from BackupAssist recovery disc

I have a Dell server running Windows SBS 2008 and the latest version of BackupAssist.
I thought I'd try a disaster recovery test so I got myself a small HP Microserver and created a RecoverAssist disc on the Dell using the original Windows build disc. The RecoverAssist disc is generated successfully but when I try to boot from it on the HP Microserver is fails saying the the hardware has changed. I agree it is different hardware but that's what would be the case in a disaster - an emergency server to keep things running while the main server is fixed/replaced.
The Dell server reports the installed software as "Windows Server Standard FE" and not "Windows SBS2008" as I would have expected. Is all this a restriction to do with licencing I wonder?
If it's a licencing restriction  then disaster recovery turns into disaster without the recovery.

BackupAssist support advised that I should boot from the Windows install CD and then select restore but I can't get that to work either. The RDX drive I have connected (a USB device) is recognised but Windows restore doesn't seem to want to restore from the vhd file that's on it.

I have managed to restore from a different server but that was from a Windows Image taken from the customer's NAS drive which they use to hold BackupAssist backups. The customer I'm dealing with here uses RDX drives and by default, BackupAssist backs the system up as a vhd file.
Hi Clinton,

I think we are off to a separate issue.  The initial question was "The Dell server reports the installed software as "Windows Server Standard FE" and not "Windows SBS2008" as I would have expected. Is all this a restriction to do with licencing I wonder? "

Are you having problem with BA not recognizing the VHD backup as a valid backup or that you have no problem restoring the server but then you are stalled with a licensing error message?
Thanks Wayne.
I think you're right, although related I think this maybe a separate issue in which case I'll close this question are open a new one.
My original question is still valid and I think you may have answered it by saying that it is most likely down to licencing and a restriction to not allow it to be loaded onto new hardware.
I agree that it is most likely down to licencing and a restriction to not allow it to be loaded onto new hardware.
Hi Clinton, not a problem at all.  It's fine with me and I can try to help.  I was unsure what the problem was with the restore.  What specific error message are you getting when you tried to restore from the VHD file?
I've just posted a new question "BackupAssist won't restore a Windows Server Standard FE backup image" which is more relevant.
Thanks Clinton, I will have a look.
