Need to sync hard drive folder to OneDrive

I would like to use OneDrive (MS cloud storage offering) as a backup mechanism for files that I have on my hard drive.  For example, I would like for my Pictures folder which is stored in the C partition to be sync'd with a Pictures folder in OneDrive.  I've read several articles (some of  which imply that OneDrive does not actually sync with the folder on the hard drive meaning that files deleted from the hard drive are not deleted from OneDrive.  Seems though that MS uses the "sync" term in describing OneDrive so it is confusing. Regardless, can someone please provide detail instructions on how to place a copy of a hard drive folder (ex. Pictures) onto OneDrive so that any new additions to the hard drive folder will also be sync'd to OneDrive?  Thank you.

OneDrive is a synchronization service. If you will delete the files from the OneDrive folder of the PC, the files will get deleted from the OneDrive Cloud as well. Hence the files will be deleted from all other devices which are in sync with the OneDrive. You may unlink the OneDrive and then perform the deletion but the moment you will again link the OneDrive, it will get sync and then the local folder will have only those folders which are there in the Cloud.

When you install onedrive app or run the app on first use, you will be asked which folders you want to sync with onedrive and the same folders will be created on your cloud on onedrive. Any files and folders deleted or added will be synced to your cloud on onedrive.

It does not appear that you can simply navigate to a file on the hard drive and decide to have OneDrive sync it.  We moved the folder into Documents and that seemed to work.  It is not entirely clear but I think we're OK.
Did you get this resolved?
You need to close it, please.
