Microsoft app passwords and mail sync issues.
I have turned on multi-factor authentication on my outlook.com account (firstname.lastname@outloo k.com). I can access the emails on my PC in a browser and on my iPhone AOK.
However although I generated an app password on the system and Microsoft Outlook accepted it OK, the emails are not synchronising in my Outlook Inbox. (worked fine previously). Windows 10 Pro 64, Office 365 - Office 2016
How do I also get emails to display in Microsoft Outlook.

Actually you were 100% correct. I just re-established a second outlook account using the original password; and it changed to from Exchange ActiveSync to Microsoft Exchange. So presumably the first account I tried only needed the app password as I had actually asked for one?
Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) requires App Password no matter two-step authenication is enabled or not?
Why?
EAS is designed for mobile devices. All mobile devices (except native mail app of iOS) require App Password.
In MS Outlook, using Exchange account is a better option for outlook.com email account as Microsoft should have migrated all free and paid email accounts of Outlook.com to Exchange platform and MS Outlook + Exchange is a more powerful integration for not only emails, but also for Contacts and Calendar and only App Password is required if you have enabled two-step authentication.
