Windows Server 2012, spoolsv.exe Application Error - Spooler Service stopping

I require some help diagnosing why the Print Spooler service crashes when someone prints.

I have been told by an engineer that the fault is occurring because of corrupt printer drivers.  I don't understand how this could be the case, the print driver is the latest version and has been working fine for years.

This has happened 3 times before in the past.  On previous occasions I've had to completely rebuild windows (not fun).

This time before rebuilding the server, I would like to start digging deeper to find out what is the root cause of the Print Spooler service crashing, if it is the drivers and how the drivers are working fine when they were first installed and then they become corrupt.

NOTE:  I have tried deleting all the printers.   Deleting all the drivers from the print server, then downloading drivers and re-installing the pirnters.  However when trying to check the printer preferences the explorer crashes.

This is why , eventually the easiest solution is been building a new server!

Printers and Scanners
Printers and Scanners

A printer is a peripheral which makes a persistent human readable representation of graphics or text on paper or similar physical media. Traditional printers are being used more for special purposes, like printing photographs or artwork, and are no longer a must-have peripheral; 3D printing has become an area of intense interest, allowing the creation of physical objects. An image scanner is a device that optically scans images, printed text, handwriting, or an object, and converts it to a digital image. Hand-held scanners, where the device is moved by hand, have evolved from text scanning "wands" to 3D scanners used for industrial design, reverse engineering, test and measurement, orthotics, gaming and other applications.
