Windows Server 2012 R2 VM - C:\ partition losing space.  Files size totals don't match used space

I have a VM, running Windows Server 2012 R2 (on Hyper-V Core server 2012 R2), which is down to 5.88GB of free space (Yesterday was 7.44GB free).

This is a 97GB partition, again showing 92.12GB being used.  I set the view to show hidden files & a Select All-->Properties check shows the entire size of the files on C:\ as being just 21GB.

An thoughts as to where the other 71GB could be located?

WinDirStat is another great utility to see where space is being used.

I'm not looking for a third party tool on this...just looking for the data on the drive.

Noxcho...I'll look into the Shadow Copies, you might be on to something here....

Check this site and see if you tried all the options listed.

Yes...I tried them all some time ago.  Even though they are for Windows 7, not Server 2012.

The first option was greyed out & the second option would not allow it to be deleted, even when using "All" or even specifying the snapshot ID.

Ultimately, even though Shadow copies are disabled, I set the limit to the default of 9.964GB...that did the trick.

I now see how Noxcho could receive the solution credit here, as he answered my actual question of what data might be utilizing the space...which ultimately lead to my finding a solution to my issue.
