I would try to apply some service pack on that SSMS as the tools need to be updated with these service packs not juts the servers/database engine similar to &quot;STEP 10: Okay now for the window we’ve all been waiting for – Feature Selection. Check off “Management Tools – Basic” and then click Next.&quot;<br />

SSMS has been working perfectly fine on my system for months<br />
It just started opening this way a few minutes ago

Because of a VPN I am opening my SSMS from a dos prompt with windows authentication.<br />

It was opening fine.<br />
<br />
Now....<br />
It opens with the solution explorer and the top part is like a transparent window with no menu????<br />
<br />
If I do an ALT+F or v etc... the menu appears<br />
<br />
