asked on

transition to visual .net from vb6

I am pretty familiar with vb6 and my question is how much effort is it to learn and transition to visual .net?  Is it a completely different environment and are there any nifty sites that help to identify equivalent code changes?  Thanks

Some of the functions may look similar, but most of the time you need to re-write the whole program as the Object structure are totally different.

nifty sites may help to identify equivalent code changes but I would not rely on it.

The whole thing with OO it is unless you have really dive into it...it's just looks chatty and too much work for nothing....but when you get to it ...when you "see" objects then only you understand the whole fuss about

Visual Basic is Microsoft’s event-driven programming language and integrated development environment (IDE) for its Component Object Model (COM) programming model. It is relatively easy to learn and use because of its graphical development features and BASIC heritage. It has been replaced with VB.NET, and is very similar to VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), the programming language for the Microsoft Office product line.
