Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2010

Hello,

I have a SBS 2011 running with Exchange 2010. On mailbox "User 1 " I added full access permission for User 2. However in the Outlook 2010 of User 2 there is a constant window poping - outlook cannot access data file for mailbox "User 1"

How can I solve this?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You may have a corrupt outlook data file for user 2. Try running Scanpst.exe. To do this:

1. Close Outlook
2.  From Task Manager look for and End Process on DW20.exe (outlook error reporting) and Outlook.exe (just in case there additional processes)
3.) Go to C:\Program Files(86)\Microsoft\Office14 and run Scanpst.exe on the .ost file for that user

Run it twice to be sure all errors are fixed. You might have to run it more than twice to completely fix all errors so run it until it reports no error.

If this doesn't do the trick then you can delete all the ost file in C:\users\<username>\AppData\Local\Micorsoft\Outlook\ and re-open outlook and it will build a new ost file but it may take a while to repopulate all the information depending on the size of the file. The user can continue working while it is being rebuilt.

As with everything make sure you have a good back up is recommended before you begin.
