Network status says no internet, but this is incorrect

Hi,
Windows 10, I'm having difficulties with a pc which regularly logs on to other networks and domains.

When the user returns to three main office and logs in, he gets no internet access, and an ip in a 169 range.

I give him a static ip within the correct range, and although this gets him internet access, the network centre reports no internet access, and the network icon has a red x.

Any ideas please?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Check to make sure your DHCP scope is not out of available addresses, has MAC address filters, reservations, etc.  I had a similar problem at a client site.  They have 20-ish users and I gave them 100 addresses in the DHCP scope.  Well, when you consider their tablets, desk phones (VoIP), cell phones, etc. we ran out of addresses pretty quickly.
