Do you think administrators permission on new services is hard coded? <br />
Are you suggesting we use it subinacl.exe as a batch file to run routinely on the machine as a scheduled task to apply the grant the users access to that machine?

Thank you McKnife for following up. &nbsp;Your solution is ultimately the only way that can be implmented. I wish MS had other ways for workgroup workstations or a way to modify the default services permissions.<br />

I talked to MS premier support and they said the services permissions is coded to have administrators as the default permission. no way to add something else to it (registry fix or something).<br />

MS premier support is wrong. I used subinacls.exe and it worked in a workgroup setup. Try it now, please.

MS Premier support said you cannot have the permissions for new services to include &quot;someone other than administrators&quot;. <br />
You can use a couple of tools such subinacls to change permissions after the fact the service is installed. &nbsp;<br />

Our hope was to do it for any service that gets installed moving forward without having to run a batch file on set intervals to update the permissions. &nbsp;makes sense?

I understand and yes, their answer is correct after all - we can do it afterwards, just like I told you in my first reply, but not like in a kind of template for new services. &nbsp;That would be a task for scripting:<br />
-&gt;detect new service creation by monitoring changes to the services registry key<br />
-&gt;trigger a task that enumerates services, decides which one is new and sets permissions on that one<br />
Did you get the idea?<br />
