Hello Experts,

I am looking for a good imaging software that will allow me to take an image of one PC and apply it to another PC. The OS is Windows 7.

Thanks!

For backup or for deployment?

For Backup. I have a Windows 7 system that is failing and want to get an image now. Will apply the Image (clone) to the new system when it comes in. Hardware will probably be different.

Windows licenses are tied to the hardware.  You can't legally or easily transfer to new hardware.  You can use tools like Acronis or even the Windows 7 Backup program to create a backup and restore it to a new hard drive.  But you would be unwise trying to "copy" or "clone" the system to a new computer.  Even if it seems to work, the hardware changes could cause instability or changes since that's not what Windows is expecting.

i use the paragon software -fast and easy; here a free version :  http://www.paragon-software.com/home/br-free/download.html
if you want to move to other hardware, it has a tool : Adaptive restore :  https://www.paragon-software.com/technologies/components/adaptiverestore/

i have used it and it works fine - from a laptop to a desktop ( for a test)
